This infographic shows several statistics about how people play the game Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor. The hierarchy is very strong and linear, guiding the viewer down the poster with each piece of information. Variations in text size and color catch the view’s eyes and make scanning the graphic easy. For example, the numbers are larger and darker than the detail. Images either explain the text or comprise metaphors. The first image, for instance, is a metaphor comparing the number of Middle Earth Uruks killed by players with the population of the world. The images that follow show various small views of Uruks. Actual scenes from the game illustrate the statistics in the lower half. The work generally depends solely on text to impart its detailed statistics, but it also uses graphs, such as the pie chart that shows how many people have used each type of weapon, to reinforce the text. Overall, this infographic is successful and keeps the viewer engaged throughout the duration of time necessary to read it.

This infographic, found on the inside of the box for Manga Studio 5, describes the various features of the software. It relies heavily on icons, drawings, and comic paneling, as well as text. This work’s hierarchy flows from left to right. It starts with the column of information, which summarizes features of the software, and then flows right towards the comic strip, which shows the viewer what he or she can accomplish with the software. In addition, the infographic displays information in the comic strip in the same order as the normal workflow for a comic artist. Orange icons and headings in the summary section lead the viewer’s eye to large, orange numbers in the comic panels. The colors work well. The orange elements and the black and white panels stand out against the black background. The colorful Manga-style drawing of a girl provides just enough color to attract attention. Overall, this infographic is successful in conveying information about the software’s purpose and features to the viewer.
